Second amendment

26 June 2008

“Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment is outmoded in a society where our standing army is the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces provide personal security, and where gun violence is a serious problem. That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct.”

An excerpt from Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia writing for the majority in a Supreme Court ruling on the un-constitutional ban on self-defense weapons in D.C. I got it from an article written by Boge Quinn on a site I frequent, which can be read here. It’s a good read and not too long, so I recommend it for those who are in favor of our inherent constitutional rights.
